This week in technology I had an assignment in the program Terrapin Logo. I was asked to make triangles, various quadrilaterals, circles, arcs, and programs. At first the program and its concepts are hard to grasp, but after watching tutorials and reading through the directions, I was able to meander through the program.
Since the turtle can only move forward, backwards, left, and right, I needed to understand angle measurements and how to calculate various angles depending on side lengths and other angle measures. It would be difficult to use this program if one didn’t know how to calculate angles. Since the turtle can’t move diagonally, it must move in very tiny increments to appear to the naked eye as a circle or an arc.
I believe the most challenging part of my assignment with Logo was constructing the proper angles and appropriate side lengths in order to complete the triangles and quadrilaterals. Though I do think this program is very unique and fun to use once you can make the turtle do what you want it to do. I think learning mathematics with Logo is a fun way to learn and would be interesting for students.

Nice reflection on how using Logo forced you to know the geometry. It sounds like your experience was challenging yet educational and you can see the merit of a program like this.
